For the fourth year, the Scottish Society of Ottawa will host the biggest and best New Year’s Eve Party in town. And it’s free!
In Scotland, Hogmanay celebrations on New Year’s Eve are the highlight of the festive season and continue on for days. They bring people together to sing and dance and to celebrate new beginnings. Come join us! There’s fun for the whole family. No tickets required.
Two New Year’s Eve Countdowns! Want to get your kids home to bed early? Join us for children’s events in the Horticulture Building, then, count down the seconds to 2016 in Scotland at 7 p.m. Ottawa time. There will be balloons and Auld Lang Syne. Then, the party will keep going until we do the count down again at midnight with the only central Ottawa fireworks show!

HOGMANAY ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE
- 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.: Highland dancing in the Aberdeen Pavilion
- 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.: Children’s entertainment in the Great Scot! Kids’ Zone in the Horticulture Building
- 5:00 p.m. until midnight: Food court and scotch whisky tasting in the Aberdeen Pavilion. Check out our VIP Experience package
- 6:40 p.m. until midnight: Music in the Aberdeen Pavilion including Bobby Watt and Écosse, The American Rogues, The Start, and the Glengarry Pipe Band
- 7:00 p.m.: Countdown to “midnight” with balloons for the wee ones (12:00 p.m. in Scotland)
- Midnight fireworks on the Great Lawn, Lansdowne Park

Activities: face-painting, balloon-twisting, caricatures, activities table, colouring wall, storytellers, light juggler and magic show.
5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Storytelling: Kathie Kompass
6:30 p.m. Procession to Aberdeen Pavilion
7:15 p.m. Return to Horticulture Building and Magic Show
8:15 – 9:00 p.m. Storytelling: Murray McGregor

Getting to Hogmanay
Hogmanay takes place at the Aberdeen Pavilion and the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park,
Parking – TD Place features a state-of-the-art underground parking facility that provides access to the Stadium and Arena at TD Place, the Shops at Lansdowne, and Lansdowne Park. The underground parking facility accommodates over 1,000 vehicles and is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The SSO has negotiated a $20 flat rate for overnight parking for those who choose not to (or shouldn’t) drive after the event.
Road Closures – Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed from 4:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. due to the Resolution Run. There’s still time to register and run (until December 27th – kilts optional!). The only access to underground parking during that time will be from Bank Street.
OC Transpo: Reduced weekday schedule and free service after 8 pm on New Year’s Eve (sponsored by Safer Roads Ottawa).
